Windermere Marina Village, Cumbria

We stayed at the Windermere Marina Village for 5 nights when we took part in the Windermere Marathon on May 20th, a beautiful run voted the 2nd best marathon in the UK by Runner’s World. Before we go into details, here’s a short film that I made on arriving at the place. It’s not meant to be a glossy film showing the accommodation at it’s best, just an honest first impression on what the average visitor might encounter on arrival in the Marina. Location - The Windermere Marina Village is on…

The Wellington Hotel, Ventnor, Isle of Wight, England

Location - The hotel is a five minute walk from Ventnor town centre, and an equal distance from the beach, which is reached via some steps leading from the sundeck area outside the restaurant. Check In - The receptionist was expecting us (it’s always nice when…

So, over the next few months we’ll be highlighting some hotels we think are worthy of your attention. This month it’s the turn of Hotel…

Three Recommended Istanbul Hotels, Turkey

If you go hiking in Turkey (and you should, it’s got some of the most beautiful, un-developed mountain ranges within easy reach of Europe) chances are you’ll end up in the nations capital, Istanbul. By the time you get there you might well have had a few weeks in the Kachar Range, or the Taurus, and been free camping all the way, bathing in lakes and eating very basic foods. You’ll be up for a bit of luxury, perhaps, and why not. Hostels are ok, but there are times when…
