Swiss Farm Campsite

Location - I walked from the village of Henley on Thames to the campsite as I had been walking the Thames Path the previous few days, and the path enters Henley before following the river towards London. The path passes through the centre of Henley, which is a 10 minute walk from the site. At the end of my stay I took part in the Tough Mudder event, which was happening a few minutes drive up the road. There’s a couple of supermarkets in the town itself and Henley train station…

Troutbeck CCC Campsite, Cumbria, England

We stayed at the Camping and Caravanning Club’s Troutbeck Campsite for 7 nights whilst we took part in the Staveley 17km run on May 26th, and enjoyed walking in the surrounding hills. Before we go into details, here’s a short film that I made on arriving at the Campsite. It’s not meant to be a glossy film showing the site at it’s best, just an honest first impression on what the average visitor might encounter on arrival in the campsite. Location - The Troutbeck Campsite is located just a minute off…

The Quiet Site Campsite, Cumbria, England

We stayed at The Quiet Site Campsite for 6 nights whilst we hiked the area around Aira Force waterfalls, explored Ullswater by Steamer and foot and prepared for ‘The Wall’ Carlisle to Newcastle Ultra Run. Before we go into details, here’s a short film that I made on arriving at the Campsite. It’s not meant to be a glossy film showing the site at it’s best, just an honest first impression on what the average visitor might encounter on arrival in the campsite. Eskdale CCC Campsite, Cumbria, England

We stayed at the Camping and Caravanning Club’s Eskdale Campsite for 7 nights whilst we hiked up England’s 2 highest peaks, Sca Fell and Sca Fell Pike, and swam in many of the local tarns and rivers. Before we go into details, here’s a short film that I made on arriving at the Campsite. Salisbury CCC Campsite, Wiltshire, England

We stayed at the Camping and Caravanning Club’s Salisbury Campsite for 3 nights whilst we explored the ancient sites of Old Sarum, Stonehenge and the city of Salisbury itself. It’s ideally sited for the Avebury to Stonehenge Neolithic Marathon, which is in May each year. Before we go into details, here’s a short film that I made on arriving at the Salisbury Campsite. It’s not meant to be a glossy film showing the site at it’s best, just an honest first impression on what the average visitor might encounter on…

Ravenglass CCC Campsite, Cumbria

We stayed at the Camping and Caravanning Club’s Ravenglass Campsite for 6 nights whilst we hiked the Mosedale Horseshoe, explored more of Eskdale and the coast and ran the Karrimor Great Trail Marathon in Keswick. Before we go into details, here’s a short film that I made on arriving at the Campsite. It’s not meant to be a glossy film showing the site at it’s best, just an honest first impression on what the average visitor might encounter on arrival in the campsite. Three Cliffs Bay Camspite, The Gower, Wales

Several national media sources in the UK have billed this campsite as having the best view of any campsite in the world. We visited last month to see what all the fuss is about. Location - The campsite is on the peninsula of land in Wales called The Gower, just south-west of the city of Swansea, and about 30 minutes drive at most from the M4 motorway. It took us about 6.5 hours to drive there from Canterbury, in the south of England. From Central London it would probably take you…

Garn Isaf Guesthouse (Garn Mawr), Abercastle, Wales

Location - Garn Isaf Guesthouse (Garn Mawr) is part of the Garn Isaf small-holding in Abercastle (near St David’s in Wales) which also includes a self-catering property and a campsite. We had broken-up the journey by booking an overnight camping stop on the Gower peninsula near Swansea, as it’s a long drive from south-east England/London (about 8 or 9 hours in one go). We followed the directions given on their website and just before reaching the quaint harbor at Abercastle we found Garn Isaf, nestling in the Pembrokshire countryside. As we…
