Restaurant Rooftop Hotel Forum, Rome

The Hotel Forum is an impressive 4 star hotel with an amazing location and view over Via dei Fori Imperiali, the thoroughfare that leads from the Colosseum past the Ancient Roman Forum to Piazza Venezia and the Vittoriano, the symbolic heart of the modern city. The interior of the hotel, where we relaxed for a while (it’d been a half hour walk from our hotel so we wanted to collect ourselves before what we knew was going to be a special dining experience) before taking the lift up to the restaurant on…

Fatamorgana Gelateria, Rome

We were encouraged to seek out Fatamorgana gelateria for several reasons. Fior di Luna Gelateria, Rome

A short walk from the excellent Open Door Bookshop (http://www.books-in-italy.com/) in Trastevere and the best viewpoint in Rome – the Gianiculum Hills – is Fior di Luna Gelateria. It’s modest shop front hides the fact that this is one of the cities most authentic gelateria, creating gelato with no preservatives and only the finest ingredients, all of which are organic. If you’re somebody who appreciates excellent gelato, or somebody who doesn’t understand the difference between gelato and ice cream but would like to, then we highly recommend you pay this…
